Dead-Reckoning Suite // DRS

The navigation tools needed to plan a sim flight in a similar fashion as the pilots did in the times between WW2 and Korea are now available in one freeware program - the Dead-Reckoning Suite (DRS). For the full experience I recommend to use it together with JD Swann's Plotting Board App which also includes the Mark-8 Flight Computer!

Title page of the Dead-Reckoning Suite. In Version 0.4 the flight planning tools are functional with Maps for Southern England and Normandy, Murmansk, Marianas and Solomons. More functions are planned for future versions as well as a manual.

Just download the .zip file, unzip and start the DRS_04c.exe file in the folder.

In this first public version, the Marianas Map is optimized to be used with the in-game aviation plotter, but the other maps should work with acceptable precision as well. You are not restricted to using the DRS with the built-in maps. You can always get course and distance from your own in-game map, say DCS, MSFS, IL2 or from a website like skyvector.com. Type in these numbers in the DRS to calculate your flight plan.

Go the the How to Page of the Dead-Reckoning Suite ... with the help texts from the in-game help function ...

I am still working on a tutorial video and example flight plan to help you learning to use the Dead-Reckoning Suite, but you can try it out already.

How do you like the Dead-Reckoning Suite? What features should be improved or added? Write me an email or DM on Discord (link):
